| [Abstract] Objective To explore the clinical manifestation, correlated examinations and ocular onset features in patients with cranial venous sinus thrombosis (CVST). Methods Collecting 118 inpatients with CVST during 1999～2005. The definite diagnosis was identified by DSA. The presentation characters in system and ocular were analyzed. Results The gender constituent ration is 1:1.2(male: female). The onset age ranged from 15 to 67, 20～45 is most common onset ages, the initial onset age concentrate to 30～40. 21.2% (25/118) of the CVST patients with the ocular syndrome as the initial onset; 30.5% (36/118) of the CVST patients presented ocular syndrome with other syndromes simultaneously; 48.3% (57/118) of the CVST patients presented non-ocular syndromes as the initial onset. The CVST patients were divided into 3 groups according to the onset style, there were no marked statistical significance among each groups. The most common chief complains were blurred or degeneration of acute vision, accounting for 85.9% (61/71) in whole abnormal ocular chief complains. The most common objective sign in eyes is papilloedema, accounting for 48.3%(57/118) in this group of CVST patients. There were about 22.4% (13/58) showed acute vision deterioration seriously following up to one year due to optic atrophy. Conclusions As an ophthalmologist, should master the onset characteristics and clinical manifestation of CVST. Early diagnosis and early treatment is very important for prevention the vision deterioration, especially to the patients with the ocular syndrome as the initial onset syndrome. For some isolated intracranial hypertension, we should think about the possibility of CVST. |
