Purpose: To compare the effect of mitomycin-C soaking in case of undergoing trabeculectomy with phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation. Methods: Retrospective review the past 2 years of glaucoma with cataract cases who received combined glaucoma filtering surgery and lens extraction. All the cases were received fornix based trabeculectomy in temporal upper and temporal approach clear cornea phacoemulsification. Acrysoft intraocular lens implanted in all cases. In group 1 with mitomycin-C soaking under sclera flap for 1 minute before penetrating into anterior chamber(MMC+). In group 2 without mitomycin soaking(MMC-). Results: The intraocular pressure reduction form pre-operation to post-operation 1 month, 3 months and 6 moths as 19.48±8.56, 17.77±8.54, 16.05±3.43, 17.24±6.11 in group 1(MMC+), 16.57±3.49, 15.33±4.19, 13.57±2.50, 14.93±2.45 in group 2(MMC-)respectively. Number of medication used from 1.90 to 0.52 in MMC+ group and 1.43 to 0.24 in MMC- group. Conclusion: Mitomycin-C soaking 1 minute in case of combined trabeculectomy phacoemulsification and IOL implantation do get minor benefit than without mitomycin-C soaking.
