The fine-wire, spatula-tip needle is passed through the superficial scleral fibers. Each intrascleral tract usually is 4.5 mm long and parallel to the old insertion. The second suture is passed in a similar fashion. Care is taken to bring the needle tip to the surface without cutting the previously placed suture.
